CPM Scheduling

Saluda Dam

Lexington, SC

Opal provided Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and cost-estimating assistance to Paul C. Rizzo Associates, related to the $200 million Saluda Dam Roller-Compacted-Concrete (RCC) seismic refurbishment performed for South Carolina Electric & Gas Company. The original dam is 7,800 feet long and 213 feet in height, retaining Lake Murray for flood control, hydroelectricity, recreation and water supply purposes. Construction of the 213-foot tall RCC dam refurbishment was completed at the toe of the original dam in order to mitigate the potential for an earthquake-caused dam failure. The CPM-scheduling was to ensure that the Prime Contractor remained on schedule due to critical scheduling milestones. In addition, assistance was provided in evaluating the prime contract language and RCC price quotations for the work.
